About
Marjorie Snyder (@oilymarj for fun) is an oil painter based in Portland, OR, originally from Rhode Island.
In her work, texture and pattern become places of exploration. Her paintings live in the tension between the familiar and the slightly off-kilter—grounded yet untethered—inviting viewers to linger in the in-between spaces where reality loosens and imagination takes over.

The Painting Process
I work primarily in oil paint and tend to paint from imagination, allowing forms and spaces to emerge through my own perception of the world. My work is inspired by artists such as David Hockney, Frida Kahlo, and Henri Matisse, among many others.
